PARK(ing) Day is an annual open-source event that has evolved into a worldwide event when on-street parking spaces are transformed into temporary, miniature parks or parklets by citizens, artists, activists, and community groups. Our goal is to demonstrate the value of landscape architecture and designed urban open spaces. Participants at each location discuss the parklets with passersby and speak to the value of the profession.

This is a recharging event where members get to directly engage and inspire the public as well as have fun creating their parklets. PARK(ing) Day is open to any and all, including interested members, firms, student groups, allied professional and local organizations, i.e. you do not have to be a chapter member to participate in PARK(ing) Day. We encourage our members of to participate and will promote their planning and locations to be updated as information is available. Groups and firms around South Carolina will be meeting before the date to start planning their parklets. If you are a member, please tell us what you are planning or let us connect you to others in your area. Email updates or interest to kristina@scasla.org ***As a reminder when planning, please remember to coordinate with the local departments of transportation & planning prior to the event.
